Who has access to the activity usage report?
Both District Leads and School Leads have access to view the activity report. District Leads will be able to view the activity report for the entire district as well as use the filtering explained in the next section to look at specific schools or products. School Leads will only have access to view the activity report for their school.
Where do I find the activity report?
On the left-hand side of your account there should be a "School Management" tab. Toggle open this tab and click into the "activity" page, this will take you to your organization's activity report!
**If you do not have the School Management tab but are supposed to have administrative permissions, please reach out to support@characterstrong.com and we will ensure you get the correct permissions!
Filtering and Time Frames
To get the most out of your activity report data, you can select specific filters and time frames. This will help you gain more specific insights into your organization's implementation and activity. These 2 features are available at the very top of the activity report.
Filters: the activity report can be filtered by product, grade levels, and sites. Filtering by site is only applicable and available at the district level.
Time Frames: ability to view usage data for a specified time frame.
**We are able to provide data usage from as early as January of 2024.
Page Views Vs. Time Spent
On the right-hand side at the top of the "Usage Analytics" section, there is a toggle that has two options: page views and time spent. The option that is highlighted in blue is how you are currently viewing the data in the "Usage Analytics" section. Page views shows the number of times educators have clicked onto a specific page within the CharacterStrong curriculum site and time spent shows how long educators are spending on the CharacterStrong curriculum site.
Where can I see completed lessons?
The ability to view completed lessons is not yet a feature; however, we recommend looking at the time spent metric to estimate whether the full lesson is being taught. Our system stops reporting time spent after 5 minutes of inactivity, so this metric is a great indicator of how long educators are spending on each lesson. Our activity report is still in its beta phase, so we are continuously working on improvements to this space! Feel free to email support@characterstrong.com if you have any feedback or suggestions.
Summary of Key Metrics
Once the ideal filters and time frames are set, you can begin viewing the activity report metrics. Below is a high-level summation of these metrics!
Adoption: percentage of members who have logged in during the selected time frame
Usage: total hours of activity accrued during the selected time frame
Sustainment: average number of hours spent per user during the selected time frame
All increase/decrease percentages for the three metrics above are calculated by comparing the selected time frame to the most recent previous time frame of the same length! For example, if you are viewing a week's worth of data, this comparison would take that current week compared to the week immediately before it.
Top Schools: shows the building sites who are spending the most time on curriculum pages compared to other school sites in your system
**Only available for District Leads; *You can View All and sort this list to see most engaged and least engaged schools; You can also click on a School to view that site's activity
Top Members: educators with the most activity on curriculum pages compared to other educators in your system
*You can View All and sort this list to see most engaged and least engaged members; You can also click on a member to view their individual activity
Top Lessons: lessons that have the highest activity logged by educators
*If you are curious what a specific lesson is, you can click the title here and that lesson will open in a new tab
Total Time Spent/Page Views Across Members: the collective amount of activity for your organization in the selected time frame
Overall Activity: a collective activity summary that shows total logins for the selected time frame and total page views/total time spent (the second metric can be changed by toggling from page views and time spent)
We are still in the process of transitioning users to individual accounts. There may be a member under your organization that has a "+1" in the email and "shared" in the name, this is the old building-wide account that was originally used for our users to access the curriculum. Until your organization is fully transitioned to individual accounts, activity data will be visible under this account if users are still signing in with those credentials.
